“With its excellent location Coronado Commons was created as a community of single-family homes in a vibrant urban environment. As Phoenix matures and begins to further define itself as a city, development must begin to recognize what creates great walkable cities; Coronado Commons addresses this evolution. The site was designed to create a defined edge at the sidewalk with stoops and balconies overlooking the street. This strategy creates a pleasant and lively pedestrian environment by providing visual interest, landscaping, shade and community engagement at the street level. Like many European prototypes that define a street edge, once you get further into the site it opens up, revealing a shared green space, a commons, for the inhabitants who call Coronado ‘Home’. The units that are not part of the street façade all look onto this central area that provides community amenities and open space.

The units were designed to have a clean, contemporary exterior and a flowing interior. Ground floor space provides flexibility for an additional bedroom, a home office or a space to graciously accommodate guests. The main flow of the homes is an open floor plan with a generous kitchen and a large multi-sliding door that blurs the line between indoor and outdoor. Windows in the kitchen allow cross ventilation and breezes to flow through the interior during the beautiful weather Phoenix often has.
